Since this report, i have upgraded to 11.10 and i havent hit the problem since
then, it seems fixed.
Im currently using lightdm, i will test with gdm in the next days if it can
helps

Same probleme here with 10.04. Still present after upgrade to 11.04
I agree with Thibouf, its pretty annoying and makes most terminal commands
headaches.
I can provide details/commands output too if needed, just ask.

Same problem for me, with Ubuntu 10.04 with a French layout, and the evdev
driver for the logitech G11.
Bug is present with automatic login, but if i logout/login, it works fine.
May I ask to increase a bit the importance of this bug ? With a french
"azerty" keyboard there are a lot of important
same bug here, with Ubuntu 10.04 and and a serial "techsolo" keyboard.
I use german-german layout. xev gives the same output for "AltGr" as in #1.
The bug appears only if i us automatic login.
So gnome-settings-daemon seems to behave different for automatic login
towards login via gdm.
