this is fixed on gnome-terminal 2.30 with the following commit:

terminal/commit/?id=6a6c1f044cf438970fbe23f5b2d927926a6900af ; the bug
it's going to be fixed on lucid with the inclusion of 2.30 version of
the package as soon as it's accepted there, bug for that is

1) Open the Gnome Terminal; the default terminal emulation application in
Ubunt
