I can also confirm that this issue happens in 11.04. Here's what I
wanted to do:
I have a game called Myst III that comes in a 4-cd set. If I pop in the
first cd, it mounts and I'm able to read from it. However, if I put in
the second cd, it doesn't mount it and I can't do a full install.

"Does this occur in most recent WINE?"
Certainly does (wine-1.2.1, mav.
While possibly talking apples and oranges there is no "detection' by wine of
filesystems mounted @ /media/ either automatically of thru the
configure wine - autodetect, nor any links created.
Ex. - disks inserted in 2 drives
I confirm this happens on the latest wine version from the Ubuntu
Maverick repo. Essentially, with older versions of ubuntu (which I still
have running), when you place a DVD/CD in the drive, it is automounted
and a /media/DISK link is created and wine sees this when it's created
automatically. In
Thank you for posting this bug.
Does this occur in most recent WINE?

This really isn't a place for support - why don't you go here and you'll
get squared up in no time, be it an fstab entry, reverting the idiotic
security policy or both.

OK, if you put in non music CD it works!
I think it has to do with the fact, that a music CD is NOT mounted, while a
CD-rom has to be mounted?
Maybe if I can force ubuntu to mount a music CD, the problem is solved?

Same here: adding a d:: link pointing to /dev/sr0 does nothing. There
seems to be no way to get Wine to detect the CD without manually
reconfiguring it to the relevant /media/ directory for each different
disk.

Hey Scott,
All right. So if everything is set up correctly, then when I put in a
CD, is there supposed to appear a symlink at ~/.wine/dosdevices/d: that
points to where the CD is? That's not happening. And under wine
configuration settings, when I put in the link to where the CD Rom is

Nate: the d:: link is supposed to be the block device; when Wine detects
that a disk is mounted there it will create a new symlink at d: (without
a second colon) to the actual mount point

Hello Doug and Scott,
Thanks for your input. That explains why I fixed the fstab problem, yet
still have my Wine problem. I still cannot access the CD Rom from Wine
because I still do not have a softlink in ~/.wine/dosdevices. ls -l
~/.wine/dosdevices gives me

Scott Ritchie wrote >

That is correct and wine can access the drive(s) without an fstab
entry(s)
This bug was mainly referring to the combo of no fstab aand the security
bit being applied to .exe's on a cdrom,. (improp
Wine in its default configuration should have softlinks in
~/.wine/dosdevices to things like /dev/sdc1 -- these should work when
cds get automounted to the /media folder
Can you please ls -l ~/.wine/dosdevices please?

When considering the importance of this bug, keep in mind that this
renders most Windows applications involving audio CDs useless. I have
two such applications.
For the benefit of newbies like myself who are reading this, here are
some details on the workaround above: The fstab file mentioned abo
