I. M. Stochastic: please file a separate bug for this issue, let's keep
this specific to when Available to all users is checked.
All, the issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with
the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release -
Natty Narwhal. It would help
unchecking "available to all users" does not work for me.
I uninstalled all of my network-manager-* packages (pptp, vpnc,
strongswan, openconnect), rebooted, and installed just the one I needed
(vpnc). I now get a prompt for passwords, followed by a "Connection
failed" message.

I can confirm that unchecking "available to all users" allows the VPN to
connect with the latest version. Thanks for the suggestion. When I
originally filed this report, it would not connect even if that checkbox
was cleared.

I'm running Debian and I have the same problem, and I found that un-
checking the "Available to all users" box fixes it for me. When that
box is un-checked, I get a GUI dialog box prompting me for my user
password, and upon putting it in I can connect successfully. So it
sounds like a problem wit
Same problem here with nm-applet and cisco vpn (10.04 x86). I can
connect fine if the user password is "saved" but never get a dialog if
it is set to "always ask". This is a pain in the butt if you have to use
non-static passwords (e.g. a token code) for your login.

Yes. I have rebooted since installing both packages. There are errors
in .xsession-errors. Here is the output when I attempt to connect.

Tpugliese,
Just to make sure, have you rebooted your system since installing
network-manager-vpnc/network-manager-vpnc-gnome, and then tested the
connect?
Also, are there any errors in ~/.xsession-errors?
Finally, do you indeed have nm-vpnc-auth-dialog and two other helper
programs in /usr/lib/n
This is still marked as incomplete. What else is needed? I am willing
to provide any additional info as requested.

Yes. Both network-manager-vpnc and network-manager-vpnc-gnome are

Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to report and bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. In order to better help you, we would need some additional
information. Could you let us know if the package 'network-manager-vpnc-
gnome' is installed on your system?

I should also add that even though I have User Password set to "Always
Ask", it never prompts for the user password.
