Same here. Also an EEE PC 1005 PE user. This is a very serious bug. One note of potential use to developers is that brightness is behaving like a sine function. As you decrease and increase brightness, brightness oscillates in a wave fashion. Also, brightness worked perfectly in Ubuntu 9.10. I am
