Shouldn't that be worth a backport or update to Ubuntu Egdy. This and
related problems witch nss-mdns would be great to be solved for Edgy.

Feisty has 0.8 and installs the nsswitch.conf line as recommended by
upstream. Name resolution happens very fast now.

Looks like libnss-mdns 0.8 is required for the _minimal stuff -- edgy is
currently stuck at 0.7.
