I should be more explicit in my reply: by "fixed" I mean I don't have my
~/.bash_history polluted by mc anymore in Gutsy by deafult. That's
propably thanks to the following lines in default Gutsy's
/etc/skel/.bashrc (thus my ~/.bashrc too):
# don't put duplicate lines in the history. Se
Are you sure? According to the debian bug report this was fixed in
1:4.6.2~pre1-1, and ubuntu gutsy and hardy both still have an earlier
version.

Feisty's /etc/skel.bashrc seems to contain
