I should be more explicit in my reply: by "fixed" I mean I don't have my
~/.bash_history polluted by mc anymore in Gutsy by deafult. That's
propably thanks to the following lines in default Gutsy's
/etc/skel/.bashrc (thus my ~/.bashrc too):

# don't put duplicate lines in the history. See bash(1) for more options
export HISTCONTROL=ignoredups
# ... and ignore same sucessive entries.
export HISTCONTROL=ignoreboth
</code>

If it's just a workaround, and the issue could/should be solved in mc
itself, not needing HISTCONTROL tweaks, I don't know. I'd let developers
decide.
