This could be due wrong kernel in use. If you did upgrade from breezy,
make sure you are running 2.6.15 kernel, and not 2.6.12. Install
linux-686 package, if you have PentiumIII+ processor.

As for parallel printers goes...
Connect your printer before you stat your computer. Or, after you
connect it, stop cups (/etc/init.d/cupsys stop), remove lp module (rmmod
lp), start cups (/etc/init.d/cupsys start).

I've encountered this problem with a Samsung ML-1210 on a parallel port
(/dev/lp0) from a fresh install of dapper. It seems others have too:

sudo lpadmin -p ML-1210 -v parallel:/dev/lp0

Your Canon MPC 200 seems to be loaded as a usb-storage device.
Can you check if module usblp is loaded? If not you could try to load it
manually (modprobe usblp) and look at dmesg output again.

The Canon MPC 200 doesn't seem to be listed on http://www.linuxprinting.org,
which means it isn't supported on Linux.
If you got this printer working manually on Linux please let us know which
driver you use.
If you printer was autodetected in Breezy feel free to reopen this bug.

Sorry that it did take so long to respond. I found more problems in my ubuntu
install and decided to do a complete reinstall. Restarting hplip and cupsys did
not help. The hp-info did not function properly on my install.
After a complete reinstall everything just works fine. It seems that it was
I get the same error, but with a CANON printer (MPC200)...
