concerning the previous comment on the function keys: the F1 and Fn-F1 keys remained swapped after reinstalling the nvidia 185 driver. I had to '/etc/init.d/pommed stop' and edit the fn value in /etc/pommed.conf, then '/etc/init.d/pommed start' and then (yes!) stop it again, edit the fn value again
