I have got a similar problem. Resuming from sleep on my Macbook Pro 3,1
does not work anymore since I run 10.04. I had no such problems on 9.10.

A month later and an (automatic) update to kernel 2.6.31-16-generic:
still no progress.
I've tried s2ram, but it doesn't recognize my system. --force is required, but
the system hangs after going to a black screen with a flickering cursor on
topleft.
I tried all the s2ram options as suggested b
just did the regular ubuntu update, which has the new kernel:

Still I cannot suspend my macbook pro 4,1.
I've tried as well to add SLEEP_MODULE="uswsusp" to
/etc/pm/config.d/00sleep_module
but this did resolve the

concerning the previous comment on the function keys: the F1 and Fn-F1
keys remained swapped after reinstalling the nvidia 185 driver. I had to
'/etc/init.d/pommed stop' and edit the fn value in /etc/pommed.conf,
then '/etc/init.d/pommed start' and then (yes!) stop it again, edit the
fn value again
I have inserted SUSPEND_MODULES="sky2" to
/etc/pm/config.d/00sleep_module according to
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1051291 but this didn't change
anything.
Also I disactivated the nvidia driver 185 from "Hardware drivers", but
no change still.
