recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the

With the libgl1-mesa-swx11 package installed (that removes the libgl1-mesa-glx
package) compiz works now. Very slowly though and the CPU is up to 100 %, but
it's running.
And I found two other things:
- in /usr/bin/compiz: in line 35 the path has to be "/usr/bin/xfwm4"
- in /usr/bin/compiz
It turns out that my system frezzes if I start another application (e.g.
firefox).
And here is what I got from the shell:

Compiz can't be responsible for a kernel panic, it can only trigger a
bug in the kernel or a module. Moving to 'linux' as they should be able
to help you figure out where the bug is.
