Title:
bcmwl kernel source
I installed 11.04 from scratch today. In the live session the wireless
was working fine. Jockey said the STA was installed and enabled. After
installation jockey would fail to activate the STA. I simply had to run
"sudo apt-get install --reinstall bcmwl-kernel-source" and reboot to
make it work. We

Just loaded Lucid on a dell mini 9, in this case jockey does not see the
device. Reinstalling bcmwl-kernel-source fixes the problem. Which bug is
this problem related to? Does not look like there is much interest in
the jockey bug??

bcmwl kernel source needs to be reinstalled for Broadcom 4312
I don't think so, this is different - hardware is detected and you can
install the driver using jockey but the module doesn't get built (or
isnt built correctly) so you have to try and reinstall the module
package to force it to rebuild the driver.

I just fixed this issue by doing a:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install --reinstall jockey
sudo apt-get jockey-text -l
then showed me all my hardware that can have proprietary drivers..
Before that - I was getting nothing from jockey.
Will continue to test and post results as I find them..
I had to reinstall the package "bcmwl-kernel-source" in order to get wireless
to work properly in Karmic's final release, too.
Before I tried to get it to work using "jockey-gtk", but without success.
Is this issue caused by "bcmwl-kernel-source" or by "jockey"?

I have this issue on a MacBook4,1 with BCM4328. Works fine on LiveCD,
but on the installed system doesn't work until the package is
reinstalled. It looks like some folks in the forum are experiencing this

Pretty much each time the kernel gets updated in Karmic I have to re-

driver since the dkms rebuild doesn't seem to actually work correctly
(even though it appears to succeed).
Recently the nvidia driver was changed to use th
That's different but very similar.
Live CD - works.

On my HP Mini 1010nr (with Broadcom 4312), I see something a little
different. I can install and configure the Broadcom support via
Hardware Drivers while running on the Live CD. When I install, the
Broadcom support is gone (no dkms, no bcmwl-kernel-source). I have to
