Hi people I created a path for this problem...
In the file softwarecenter/ui/gtk/widgets/thumbnail.py I modified the
lines 104, 146 and 147...
with this patch clicking on the empty gtk.Alignement the software centre
will open in the default browser a webpage like
http://screenshots.debian.net/upl
You could implement this simpler for the users by changing the "no screenshot
available" box:
- make the box link to http://screenshots.debian.net/upload/$PACKAGE
- add a message like "No screenshot available. You can contribute one by
clicking this box or going to http://screenshots.debian.net/u
I'm not convinced this is a great idea - uploading screenshots is not
something for the everyday user and in my opinion shouldn't be in the
Software Centre.
However I would support someone developing a tool that assisted in
uploading screenshots, perhaps it could indentify installed programs
witho

Still, that's not immediately apparent to the user so I think my point
stands. I am sure that site would like to have Ubuntu's large user base
uploading screenshots of the apps they use, and allowing to do it from
the store would make it very easy.
