I was having the same problem and turning off focus follows mouse fixed
it- which is too bad because I like that feature.
I didn't change the setting in compiz though. I went to
System>Preferences>Windows and un-checked "select windows when the mouse
moves over them."

This was caused by Unredirect Fullscreen Windows being enabled. In
karmic we have disabled this setting so the bug is fixed.

Based upon what you Alan and Jeremy said, I am going to assign this bug
to compiz. Hopefully, the package manager may provide better insight as
to where the problem resides in.

I'm using Firefox 3.5.2 and Ubuntu Jaunty and I have this problem as
well. I'm unable to play video Fullscreen.
I don't think it is related to firefox but more the window manager since
the problem "disappears" when you uncheck "Select windows when mouse

Yes, I don't believe this is either a Firefox nor a GDM bug. However, I
wasn't sure what package to file this under.
I have found that this behavior exists in Firefox 3.0.* (before I
upgraded) and still exists in Firefox 3.5.* (after I upgraded). I'm on
still happy with Jaunty, therefore haven't

Where is this setting and what is it set as in default?
What version of Ubuntu and Firefox are you using?
Did you test with firefox-3.5.1 in repos in Jaunty and Karmic (dont use
Karmic's if you are not already on Karmic and dont upgrade just to fix a bug)

users, it appears that this is a focus follows mouse issue. Please see
