Hi, thanks for the reply! I did try this on 9.10 but it didn't work,
good news then! lsusb -v used to give "full speed" (USB 1) I guess
that's fixed now...

Hi,
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx (with pulseaudio pre-installed). Connect
your soundcard to USB.
For getting surround support you have to search for the line
; default-sample-channels = 2
in
/etc/pulse/daemon.conf
Remove the ";" and alter 2 to 6 for 5.1 support.

I'm also affected, Lucid Lynx with X-fi USB.
Sound works out of the box, adjusting daemon.conf enables surround-sound.
Hardware control doesn't work.
remote control doesn't work, too.
Anything I can do?

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .
If it remains an issue, could you run
stereo sound works fine though SPDIF, but I can't make surround work,
only the front two speakers.
