I have a Dell Inspiron 1000 with a fairly new install of Ubuntu 9.04.
I've noticed that the power manager doesn't shut down/hibernate/suspend
the computer completely. It will hang on [xxx.xxx]

gnome-power-manager has no involvement with shutting down the machine
(it only initiates suspend/hibernate, currently via HAL in Jaunty). If
you're having issues with any of these, it's not likely to be a g-p-m
issue (especially when the machine stops on "[xxx.xxx] System Halted"
