I got exactly the same problem & solution when upgrading from 9.04 to
9.10. All video plays everywhere as long as gxine runs, but only black
screen if gxine isn't running. Which restore function did you use to fix
it?

Hello,
I solved the issue by using the restore function in Ubuntu. I'm now on
the latest version of Ubuntu and all works fine again.

Hello Vladnistor,
I have tried several movie files MPG, AVI and DIVX. And all have the
same behavior as described in the message above.
Please also see the attached video, where you can see that movies can
only be executed when Gxine is opened and minimized

error with another file, not recorded by your digital camera? NB: avi
can be encoded with a large variety of codecs. If the bug only occurs
with files recorded with your camera then you should check the manual
and see what codec t
