The problem is most likely caused by running pidgin via 'sudo -s'. For
this, and many security reasons usespace applications should do
everything possible to not run as root without some sort of
confirmation.

The info is only disappearing sometimes now Usuall when I close Pidgin
and reopen it the account info is still there. Also, when I reboot, it
is usually still there. But twice now, it has disappeared and Pidgin
thinks it is the first time it has been ran.

I don't know if this is the solution or workaround; but after doing the
following i was able to "save my account settings":
after receiving the note from Led Shark; i tried to find the accounts.xml in my
~/.purple directory. I could not find this file in that directory. On further
