I can confirm both bugs, although they're both (easily) fixable. Ubuntu Edgy Eft - Preferences -> Sessions -> Startup; Select correct keyboard mapping: setxkbmap -model pc105 -layout no -variant basic Make sure you select the proper layout for your keyboard - mine is "no" 'cause I'm Norwegian.

When I first started GNOME on xgl I was offered an option as to whether I wanted to use the GNOME keyboard settings or the X keyboard settings.
