To continue, I think I may have found the problem. I tried downloading
the live desktop 32 bit ISO from different mirrors and burning a copy on
my DVD/CD burner and each time it reported 3 errors. Trying to run it
gave me the same errors as I reported above for the 64 bit CD. I
