Disabling Assistive Technologies: Successful workaround. That's
interesting because I don't have any of the assistive technologies
enabled other than the master on/off checkbox, but that's clearly it.
Out of curiosity, can you link me to the bug?

Does moving/removing ~/.openoffice.org* help resolve the problem for
you? If not do you have System->Preferences->Assistive Technologies? If
you do does disabling that (if possible for you) resolve the problem?
There is a known issue that can cause crashes with OOo templates.

Reopening. I am also experiencing this crash. I can reproduce it

i cannot reproduce this using openoffice 2.4 from intrepid by the steps
you mentioned.
what version of openoffice are you using?
couldyou try with a clean user profile? i have heard about openoffice
corrupting its settings sometimes...

It isn't caused by templates and it isn't just Write. It also happens in
Spreadsheet and Presentation. It's a bug in the "Templates and Documents
- New Document" dialog.
Choose File /New / Templates and Documents.
In the left panel, click "New Document" or "My Documents" or "Templates"
In the cen
Crashes when selecting a template folder, not any specific template. As
soon as e.g. "Business Correspondence" is clicked, it crashes. It
doesn't matter which folder is clicked on. Please see attached
screenshot.
