I am not sure what exactly happens when you uncheck "Enable wireless". Perhaps
it unloads the module(read driver) or put it in some "pause mode". If so, there
will be _no_ wireless available in that hardware until the module is loaded
again.
This is the wifi chipset
OK, I still think there should be a way to completely turn off my wifi
though... :) Macs don't have a switch for it.
