** Description changed:
When upgrading to Intrepid, the keyboard section of /etc/X11/xorg.conf
is commented out, and a comment is added:
# commented out by update-manager, HAL is now used
This leaves the user completely in the dark as to where the HAL is, how
it is configured, etc.
Well, I missed a pointer to where the settings were gone to. Even if the
update script migrates more than one device and therefore migrates to
more than one place, it is really helpful to tell where those places
are. If I had read "/etc/default/console-setup" in the migration

Yeah, the automatic triager doesn't do a very good job with wishlist bugs.
Do you have a suggestion for a better wording for the comment in the xorg.conf?

I have made modifications long ago to /etc/default/console-setup and
have no spare machine for a re-upgrade, so reproduction is a bit
difficult. This is my current /var/log/Xorg.0.log, though I do not think
it will help much now.

continue to file bugs or am I just in the way?

This is the Xorg.conf that contains the comment. I read somewhere on the
wiki that the next version will probably use Xorg.conf again, which
would automatically do away with this bug.

Hi xubuntu-w-p,
Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log
file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to
your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.
