I also often get this bug. As almost all other bugs with colors in dark color
shemes, this bug is not supported nor fixed oficially. Dark colors users are
alone with their look and feel 'enjoyment'.
Some apps, mostly qt3 apps, like QCAD, not have any replacements, not going to
rewritten for mode
I found a way to disable anti-aliasing on qt3 and qt4 applications by creating
file ~/.fonts.conf with following content:

All Kubuntu default apps should be KDE 4 by the time 9.04 gets out. For
9.10 there should be barely any KDE 3 application left in the archives
at all.

I've install kcontrol from this PPA:
http://ppa.launchpad.net/kb9vqf/ubuntu
And now I can customize iconnsets and color schemes for Qt3
applications.
But there is issue with styles:
If I choose QtCurve for KDE3, KDE4, Gnome - all work and look good and similar
But if I choose QtCurve for KDE3 an
I think the key of a problem that in intrepid there is no relevant kcm
moduls: icons, style, colors
There is kcmshell for kde3-modules, there is some kde3-kcm moduls in
standalone packages: kcmnvview, kcmpureftpd and some others.
Maybe solution is to package kcmicons, kcmstyle, kcmcolors in a sam

it is a clean install of kubuntu 8.10 with new user.
Lately I copied some configs and apps data from my old user.
There is the issue with qtcurve too,
kde4-style-qtcurve-kdeconfig, kde4-style-qtcurve, kde-style-qtcurve,
gtk2-engines-qtcurve are installed, qtcurve is chosen.
