Don't be worried about the upgraded, and don't rollback to 8.04, the
8.10 release is now in a very stable state, and all the bugs are being
fixed very quickly. Do you still have the firefox problem? is the
problem with only flash related websites? maybe try to reinstall firefox

... especially now
that I can not find any way to rollback to 8.04. It's very discouraging to say
the least.

is the problem with only flash? or with other formats?
try install libflashsupport
or try in google: ubuntu firefox flash sound
