This has been fixed in jaunty, by virtue of the fact that the hotkey-
setup script has been gutted and no longer makes any changes at all to
thinkpad settings. :)

I have updated the kernel from linux-image-2.6.24-19-generic to linux-
image-2.6.27-7-generic and the hotkey-setup does not seem to be an
issue. Unfortunately I have other issues (Gnome now not working) but
I'll log them under a new issue.

/sys/devices/platform/thinkpad_acpi/hotkey_recommended_mask doesn't
exist

I have the same problem as tocotac.
I was upgrading from 8.04 to 8.10. It is an IBM T22 laptop. I'm not sure
how to copy the files you requested as I'm a bit of a Noobie but the
error message is the same except the mine is in English.
Any suggestions would be appreciated as I can't use my laptop
