I and others have confirmed that this bug is fixed now; I've been suspending
my laptop several times a day since the release of 9.10, and never had a
problem.
Is there anything we can/should do now?

Karmic update: you do not need workarounds to suspend or resume in
karmic. But sometimes you may experience no connection after resume... I
think it is another problem since /etc/init.d/NetworkManager restart
solves it. New bug, marking this one fixed?

The elegant solution is create a new config file like
/etc/pm/config.d/01suspend_modules with SUSPEND_MODULES="rtl8187" in it.
But here (Semp Toshiba IS 1454, jaunty, 2.6.28-*-generic) I suffer with
some kernel oops using this solution. I think the problem is the order

I have simmilar issue with my Toshiba L305-S5955. Unfortunetly none of

I tried Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala Alpha 3 (kernel 2.6.31) from a USB

Hello Hélio,
Thanks for your workaround. Initially it didn't work on my Toshiba Satellite

and now it works. I can now suspend. I still can't hybernate, but that's

Hello there Hélio Nunes. Could you test if it works if you put the workaround
after 10NetworkManager? (i.e. change the name to 11_rtl8187_workaround)? If it

I can confirm this bug on a Dell Latitude C810 with an RTL8187B USB
stick which registers as rtl8187. I'm running Intrepid RC, fully updated
as of Oct 24. My situation exactly matches what is described here. More
details, if needed are here:

I found a workaround that is working here without the event/0 problem.
I don't know if is the order of unload/load, but

important) to unload the module right be

kern.log shows a lot of suspension/wakeup, the error related with
events/0, forced rmmod rtl8187 and some forced poweroff. There are some

Same problem here. I have added rtl8187 to SUSPEND_MODULES and pm-
