I've tried with the Ubuntu 8.10 livecd. The "media player" key still
does not work. Furthermore, the "web browser" key does not work, but
used to work with Gutsy.

any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue
for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

I haven't had the time to test Hardy, yet. However, I've done some
testing with Ubuntu Gutsy. The situation has improved significantly.
Apart from the "media player" key, all the keys seem to work now. I have
not tested the "Wifi" nor the "External Monitor" Fn2 key, though.

Is this still a problem in Ubuntu Hardy?
If so, please try updating the files used by hal (package hal-info). See

Attached tarball contains the files you requested. Unfortunately, the

Due to a bug affecting the edgt rc desktop cds I am unable to test this

I've run a test with the Ubuntu 6.06.1 Desktop amd64 livecd. The
following keys seem to work now:
Fn + F7 - Audio Volume Down : keycode 174 (xev)
Fn + F8 - Audio Volume Up : keycode 176 (xev)
Fn + F9 - Audio Mute/Unmute : keycode 160 (xev)
"IE Key" - Start Webbrowser : keycode 178 (xev)
"Mail Key"
Can you test this on Dapper 6.06.1 or Edgy Beta 1 so we can see if the
bug still exists?
