Ok, e.lamskoy, i tried to do what you;ve said. And i'd say, i was
finally able to make the GODDAMN sound card work!
There are some problems, but not with the sound, but rather, with
something i'd call 'general look". It boots ok, but there are 3 error
messages (i can't read them, it flashes too so
Thanks a lot e.lamskoy!!! I fixed my sound thanks to the solution that you
referred to! The system is:
[r...@rpg ~]# uname -r
2.6.30.8-64.fc11.i686.PAE
[r...@rpg ~]#
That's Fedora 11 with the latest stable PAE kernel. Any hint how or where to
suggest the fix to the Fedora developers?

Tried this kernel for x86 - doesn't work for me
But I found solution that works:
1. Download latest hda-verb and compile it
ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/tiwai/misc/hda-verb/
2. Add to modprobe.conf:
options snd-hda-intel m
Forgot to add - my last solution works with
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.31.4/
and doesn't work with kernel from standart distribution

Ok, so i dl'ed it and burned. I haven't installed it, as i have no
possibility of installing it right now, will update it in a few days
when i install it.
For now, Ubuntu beta, booted from livecd + ALC660 = nope, it doesn't.
And that's where it begins to be funny. I can't start
@Sokolowski,
Can you test the latest Karmic 9.10 Beta release -
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic/ . It contains a newer 2.6.31
based kernel and based on killruana's comment #12 it sounds promising to
hopefully resolve the issue. Please let us know your results. Thanks.

Have the same problem. Downloading latest alsa and manual compilation doesn't
help for me.
Built 2.6.28-rc6 kernel from sources - no success too.
