This still happens in 2.0.0.18 but only IMAP and not all boxes i have in
IMAP. Please look for upstream bug report if you can find one please
file one. I think i just saw this bug in another LP bug. I'm looking for
that one.

I now realize that it would ask me for my password repeatedly because
Password Manager was not functioning. It was not functioning because I
had forgotten the correct password for Password Manager, and I always
entered an incorrect one.
Of course, its incorrect for Thunderbird to ask for the pass

in my case it's Windows XP and Thunderbird version 2.0.0.16 (20080708).
it's not exactly the same, because i have this problem only with my
google imap account. from time to time thunderbird asks for my password
(and it keeps asking for a while like if i was wrong with my attempt). i
