in my case it's Windows XP and Thunderbird version 2.0.0.16 (20080708). it's not exactly the same, because i have this problem only with my google imap account. from time to time thunderbird asks for my password (and it keeps asking for a while like if i was wrong with my attempt). i assume it might be caused by some errors/inactivity from gmail imap server, but asking for the password over and over again is a serious bug that blocks entire application (thunderbird).

But when I try to receive emails, it always asks for my password about a dozen times. I use Password Manager, but it still asks me for passwords for my various email accounts. I left Thunderbird open overnight. The next day it had over 100 dialog boxes open asking me for a password. The title bar of one of them said "Enter your password: <104>". I clicked the "Cancel" button for over 80 of them. At number <19> it got stuck, and would not exit from this dialog box. Both the "Cancel" and "OK" buttons got no response. And I could not exit from Thunderbird, which is its normal behaviour when its waiting for a password, but which was a problem at this time. I had to use "KDE System Guard" to kill the process. I am using Thunderbird "2.0.0.16" with Kubuntu "8.04.1". + //Similar problem with Gmail Imap account and Windows XP (details in the comments section). ** Tags added: gmail google imap mail password required server -- "Enter your password" repeated 100 times. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/267147 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
