I have a similar issue, could be the same bug - could be something else.
I'm using Kubuntu 9.04 (beta) x86 with KDE 4.2.2.
My keyboard is Chery - eVolution Stream Corded Multimedia Keyboard.
After some hours logged in, the keys stop working. Un->In-plugging the keyboard
doesn't fix the problem.

I can confirm this issue. Subscribing Jonathan Riddell to this bug since
he added the "use-multimedia-keys" functionality patch to the Kubuntu
packages.
