Interesting. In any case, the bug filed here has already been resolved.
The problem you are most likely experiencing is probably due to bug

Honest question: how do you know they are running in software mode? I've
been poking around with the applications you mentioned, and while they
are slow, I thought it was because of a driver/kernel issue.
We do have DRI2 & Redirected Direct Rendering, which means that
applications will
To be more precise, OpenGL works in hardware mode for compiz (so window
effects work at full speed ) but in software mode for any aplication or

Hi
I updated the driver. Texture corruptions doesn't occur, BUT opengl works in
software mode wchich is _extremely_ slow
so new driver doesn't help at all.

Bryce:
99% sure this is already fixed in Jaunty with the 2:2.5.1 driver set. No
texturing issues at all here. Everything looks and runs fine, aside from
the current xserver slowness (but that's a different bug).

We'd like to forward your bug upstream, however upstream requires
that you first test it against their newer driver code.
To save you the effort of building the driver from source, we've built

intel/+bug/272699/comments/11 helped a lot, it disables "Compositing" in

This at least turns off quite some of the desktop effects, but in
general all windows are way more responsive now
This appears fixed in Jaunty, although the driver is rather slow at the
moment. Can anyone else confirm?

The issue is fixed for me when running a GEM kernel (at least with the

that's necessary).

Thank you, all. Since I believe this bug has enough information
provided for a developer to begin work, I'm going to mark it as Triaged
