Lightning was working fine when I was working on my old machine (upgraded from Edgy->Feisty->Gutsy->Hardy). Lightning 0.9 with Hardy's Thunderbird doesn't work either, Intrepid will come with Lightning 0.8. Another workaround is to use Mozilla's binaries (instead of Ubuntu packages). I wouldn't recommend this on any system that requires official support, but if your trust mozilla.org binaries and their

Installing 0.8 from upstream is not supported on Ubuntu 0.7 is Hardys version im thinking i wont baackport this until next release of sunbird. since Tony has not answered my question i have to assume hes using Hardy with upstreams version of sunbird/lightning.
