For those who can't wait: it's worth trying to compile digikam and kipi-
plugins from source. It's really easy and tested by many persons. An

Yesterday a second beta of kipi-plugins 0.2.0 beta came out
(http://www.digikam.org/drupal/node/375). Can't find the beta in the snv
repo, but it must be somewhere out there :)

I've installed gwenview, libkipi5, libexiv2-6 and digikam-kde4.
Installing kipi-plugins tries to uninstall gwenview, digikam-kde4 and libkipi5.
It tries to install libkipi0 en libexiv2-3.
The problem is more specific: kipi-plugins needs libkipi0. Libkipi0
conflicts with libkipi5 and libkipi5 is n
Thanks it's fixed size the last release.
But libkipi0 conflicts with libkipi5.
So gwenview is uninstalled when installing kipi-plugins for digikam.
So i had to force the installation.

There are some kde3 programs like amarok, konversation that can be installed in
intrepid.
I think kipi-plugins and digikam-kde3 are also needed.
Digikam kde4 is nice but note feature complete. You can't remove red eyes for
example.
