I'm also seeing this problem with processes going uninterruptible, and
it looks like my dual-core CPU is not getting utilized either.
The Gnome Windows Manager is completely unusable -- keeps temporarily
freezing when I move windows around. I suspect that's related to this
issue of processes goin
Also, I should note, there is no high load on my system. I have two
CPU's and one is consistently around 0% right now (the other is pegged
at 100% running another task that I don't want to shutdown). In
addition, I have well over 2 gigabytes of free memory--not a paging
issue either.

I am also experiencing this bug, in Karmic Koala.
I currently have 5 uninterruptible evince processes. It says they're
stuck with waiting channel "real_lookup".
I can not get rid of these processes without logging out/in or rebooting
(both unacceptable when other running tasks need to stay runni

current install is Ubuntu 8.10, kernel 2.6.27-10-generic, Gnome 2.4.1
the problem arises less often and for shorter durations but still
occurs.
