Seriously, is there any point in commenting on this ticket given it was
first raised 3.5 years ago and is still a problem? Maybe this is the
wrong ticket?

Hi Phil,
this is not a solution to this bug, but what about trying the nouveau
driver?
It's opensource from scratch and is included in Jaunty.
Too bad up to now 3D is not supported, but if you use 2D-only stuff like me,
I think you'll be quite happy.
I'm using it on a couple of PCs and so
This is a bug for me. My configuration is a Dell Latitude D800 using
NVIDIA proprietary driver version 96. I tend to get horrible scrolling
performance in any Firefox that is graphically rich (or maybe that's
Adobe Flash doing that) , but nothing that corrupts like this.

While it doesn't address the problem with the 177.82 driver, upgrading
to 180.11 by installing the "nvidia-180-modaliases" package has fixed
this problem for me.

Thirded - not fixed for me as well. I'm running an up-to-date Hardy

How do we get someone to reopen the bug?

I concur - this is not fixed. Problem still exists in Intrepid with:
Driver: nvidia 177.82
Hardware: nvidia GeForce 8300 GS
Like the previous post, I don't experience this problem on other nvidia
hardware, namely a GeForce 8400 M and GeForce 8600 GT.
Not sure if this is useful, but the following

Hi Teej,
sorry for not giving info anymore, I forgot about that.
The problem is definitely fixed, no more issues now!
I can say that up to me, this is solved both in Hardy and Intrepid.
Thanks again and keep up with the great work!

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue
for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Same problem here with a Dell Inspiron 8100 (Hardy installation, nvidia
GeForce2 Go, using nvidia's proprietary drivers).
I don't know if this is useful or not, but some corruption also happens
with lists in Nicotine+ (Downloads, Search, etc.). It's not nearly as
bad as the sort in System Monitor,
I believe it is NVidia drivers - Once I upgraded from Onboard to a
Geforce, the corruption started. Beforehand, it was fine.
Also, my old Dell laptop (equipped with a Geforce Go) had the same
problems once upgraded to Hardy (but worked fine under Gutsy)

One last thing, perhaps it is useful.
If I place the mouse over the currupted lines, they are re-drawed and
rendered correctly.
