I just noticed that this morning (8am here), the disk is properly
recognized. Looks like the suspend to ram (during the night) helped a
bit. Strange. Any idea ?

The problem happens with a external disk containing nothing but data.
This disk is usually disconnected when the laptop boots, and is
connected/disconnected from time to time by plugging the pccard to which

running 2.6.22-14. I am not sure the kernel team will touch a kernel
that is outdated...
