Same problem here. Audio CD insert provides no feedback (no desktop
icon, no indication that it is mounted). Yet, players work with it
fine. Just no auto mount.

Apparently little has changed with this issue in 4.1.2. When I insert
an audio CD, which works fine elsewhere, it is not mounted and can't be
played in Amarok. It will play in KMPlayer, but the audio is very
choppy. Once the disc is inserted it can't be removed until I log out.
Very annoying...
actually, I'm not sure if sdparm does anything at all. What's got me is
that KDE4 doesn't provide feedback that a CD disk has been inserted in
the "recently plugged devices" widget, although it does show DVD discs.
The mount point is also empty but audiocd:/ in konquerer shows the disk.

Finally found a fix for this while setting up a fresh KDE4 install on
new laptop (Dell XPS M1330), although I'm not sure *why* it fixes the
situation with KDE3 playing audio cd's and KDE4 not.
