actually, I'm not sure if sdparm does anything at all. What's got me is that KDE4 doesn't provide feedback that a CD disk has been inserted in the "recently plugged devices" widget, although it does show DVD discs. The mount point is also empty but audiocd:/ in konquerer shows the disk.
