Two days ago I tested a few thing (ndiswrapper, wicd, iwl3945 options,
hardy-backports etc.) many hours late at night and I even found a solution
which works sometimes (before that it NEVER works):
There must be a bug with network-manager - try wicd instead and your wireless
will work better.
I haven't seen a fix for this bug, but you can make it work. It didn't
work with 7.x either. What I have found with my T60 is this:
The Thinkpad wireless LED does not work with Ubuntu. Don't let this throw you.
It is on if the switch is on, the LED just doesn't work.
I use WPA2 encryption. E
Is there a solution or workaround for this bug yet?
I need to use my wireless card and don't know how (with Ubuntu 8.04).

I have hp 530 notebook and I am able to connect to my University's (un-
secure) wireless network from the very beginning after installing 8.04.
But the LED does not work. LED used to work in 7.10 , where ubuntu used
restricted drivers.

Hi. Same with my ACER 5672WLMi. All ok on 7.10.
8.04: No wireless networks visible (scanable). Card detected correctly as shown
in dmesg etc...
I am not able to find the old kernel versions, hints very much appreciated how
to get around this bug. Or I go back to 7.10 [deep sigh].

I have only got kernel 2.6.24-16; 2.6.24-17; 2.6.24-18 on my acer with
Ubuntu 8.04. So I can't test.
But when I boot with Ubuntu 7.10 (live-cd) it works.

Sorry, the working kernel version is 2.6.22-14-386 anyhow the other one
should work anyway. The problem started with kernel upgrade to 2.6.24-xx

The problem is not related to Ubuntu version but with the kernel
version. I have the same problem and was able to make the wireless work
changing the kernel back to version 2.6.20-16-386 or earlier.
The problem start when the kernel was upgraded to 2.6.22-xx

I am using a Lenovo T60, and I thought it wasn't working either. I
finally discovered after looking at the logs that it does work, but that
the wireless LED does not work. However, I have a problem with the
network manager. I am using WPA2, and after I select WPA2 and put the

I can confirm this on HP laptop dv9335nr with Intel 3945abg. Worked
fine in 7.10 and 8.04 beta until about a week ago. I stayed current
with updates but just accepted them blindly, sorry not sure what updates
caused issue. I then installed 8.04 final and it never worked. In 8.04
beta, network
I may confirm this bug on a Lenovo R61. Under Ubuntu 7.10 wireless
worked fine, using the restricted driver, but using 8.04 no LED and no
connection seems possible.

I have the same problem of seeing networks but not being able to connect
to them in Kubuntu 8.04. I also installed Ubuntu 8.04, thinking it
might be a problem with Knetworkmanager, but there was no difference. I
am using a Lenovo T61p with an Intel 3945 wireless card.

The same issue occurs with a Dell Latitude D820. Worked perfectly in

I have the same problem with this wireless card. I can see wireless
networks but I can't connect to them. In 7.10 it did work but today I
