I have a similar problem.. I used to be able to sync my Treo 650 with Ubuntu
(Edgy->Jaunty) using plain pilot-link, but with Karmic my Treo crashes every
time I start the hotsync. However I think the issue is not with gnome-pilot or
pilot-link, because it crashes even if I _don't_ start any prog
Confirm similar behaviour with a Palm Treo 650 - gnome-pilot crashes the
PDA immediately every time I press the hotsync button. I have
consistently been able to sync (using Jpilot) with every Ubu version
over the last 2 years -- but the Karmic upgrade 'broke' this for me.

Very interesting. The error that I got occurs after a sucessful sync. I
did get a failure mentioned before I reset my phone.
If you reset your phone it should work. The 700p is terribly flaky (as
i'm sure you know) I think this is a phone issue not a gpilot issue.

Doing more testing I found the following:
Turned off backup
crashed during synchronization of Eaddress

Turned off everything save Time and Test
SUCCESS

Turned on Calendar
Completed ... but checking data on Cal
Address Book still failing
