Same issue for me since several Ubuntu versions on 2 different computers
(24.10 and 24.04)
And same : if I empty the /home/jpaul/.cache/thumbnails/fail/gnome-
thumbnail-factory/ AND open a Nautilus window of the desktop, the right
icons is created immediately.

1.) download the current source files from dev's site:
https://gitlab.com/rastersoft/desktop-icons-ng as e.g. *.zip to your Desktop
2.) unzip it to your Desktop
3.) run "rm -rf ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/d...@rastersoft.com"
4.) r
here the apparmor error log, taken from "Protokolle" (journal) ->
"System" -> Search "apparmor"

I have now made following:
1.) have delete all folders in /home/newcomer01/.cache/thumbnails/
2.) run 'nautilus --select "/home/newcomer01/Schreibtisch/"'
3.) clicked on desktop "Arrange Icons"
4.) fail folder in /home/newcomer01/.cache/thumbnails/ are being created
immediatly
5.) grep ERROR /var
Is your issue with nautilus (like if you browse ~/Desktop in the file-
manager) or with the desktop view (which is a handled by gnome-shell-
extension-desktop-icons-ng)? It could be that your issue is similar to

I have discovered something new:
I load a .jpg on the desktop and change from 0664 to e.g. 0777, then the
preview image is created immediately, as far as I know.
But now I go to /home/USERNAME/.cache/thumbnails and delete all folders (fail
and large).
Now I click on the desktop with the right mo
yes, it seems that only the desktop folder is affected by this bug, but
the permissions are in all of my folders identically, so I wouldn't
understand what's the problem.

is your issue specific to the desktop folder? and try to start nautilus
without using sudo which is wrong

@Sebastien Bacher: please advise me, I can run 'sudo nautilus start' but
it results in a crash with a lot of errors (also lot of as *critical*)
in terminal and the Information about that says, that it is not possible
to run it as sudo or root and without sudo, it crashes too, but the
terminal stays
Thank you for your bug report. Could you start nautilus from a command
line, reproduce the problem and attach the output of the process?
Also could you attach the 'journalctl -b 0' log from the system after
triggering the issue?
