Thanks. The cover problem is likely due to a change in Amazon's API.
The problem was fixed in Exaile a while ago (bug 192927), but I don't
know which Ubuntu version includes this fix.

In Ubuntu 8.04.1 Exaile launches and plays OK, but still fails to
actually fetch and display album covers, so I have simply taken to
using Amarok, which works OK.
Same situation in development versions of Ubuntu 8.10, but that has
more fundamental failure to Shut Down or Restart problems on my
I wonder if this is still happening in recent Ubuntu versions.
Just an idea, it may be that Exaile is accidentally set to use OSS or
ALSA as the output sink. (Exaile defaults to autoaudiosink, which
normally uses ESD or Pulse if available.)

Synaptic Search and application of libxine1-plugins now allows launch of
Kaffeine when Exaile is already running. When Kaffeine is already
running it is still not possible to launch Exaile. VLC Player remains
unaffected by these conflicts, capable of independent operation, but
Movie Player stutt
Noting the refusal to keep #210114 open and close THIS report #207342, I can
now confirm that Exaile is the outstanding problem, conflicting with VLC
Player and Kaffeine Player which now do not conflict with each other.
If Exaile is launched after the others, it refuses to actually play and wh
After 04 April 2008 Complete re-install with x363 Updates including new
kernel 2.6.24-14-generic, Kaffeine stability seems to have been
restored, leaving Exaile with problems under #210114.
So, please close this report, leaving #210114 open.
