I still see this behaviour in hardy! Just had a look. The worst part is
actually not the CPU cycles but IO. Evolution-data-server does use all
available IO, which makes other apps and the whole startup process

The work around is to type top on the command line to see what number
evolution-data-services has. You then type kill -9 number.

Same issue on a dual core dell. Nothing extra installed. Upgrade from
Gusty. Don't use evolution. No wireless. I have other issues with
networking that are annoying. The nm-applet is constantly spinning and
sometimes it takes 10-15 minutes to get a solid DHCP connection.

I have the same problem. I just installed the beta of Hardy Heron and in
system monitor it says evolution-data-server-2.22 is using about 50% of
my cpu. it doesn't really matter that much though, because it's dual
core and its only using one of them so everything else isn't slowed down
by it. What
I have a similar issue. It is intermittent upon logging in to my system;
it will some times happen and others it will not, with no telltale sign
as to why. I have never used evolution(mistakenly opened it once or
twice, but always canceled out of the configuration wizard), and I do

After killing the process, I can use my mouse as before.
I had the same mouse-blocking problem with Firefox 3 which was using
lots of CPU, no problem with Firefox 2.

I can't use my usb mouse anymore (with irqpoll option enabled in kernel
boot options, in /boot/grub/menu.lst).

Same here on a fresh Hardy install (beta 1) with all patches.
The evolution data server consumed 50% CPU until I killed it. I'm not using
evolution. It's not even started on this machine.
