Daniel - please try http://doc.ubuntu.com/~mdke/ubuntu-
docs_8.04.2_all.deb and see if that fixes the Swedish offline startpage.
Note that the online startpage will appear if you have a network
connection active or have visited it in the past and so have it cached.

This seems to be a server-side error. Firefox sends the correct locale headers.

Hm, there's a weird error that shows up when loading a page which
doesn't exist (such as http://www.jkljkljkl.com/). I don't know if it's
related to this bug, but it seems the translated strings for the error
message are not available. This is shown with a red background, instead
of a proper error

longer complains about mozilla-firefox-locale-xx not being installed,

Currently available are: de, es, fi, pt, ja, fr. It's known that the
others are still not available. AFAIK Mozilla team is furiously busy,
especially now that it was found there may be a problem in the
generation with at least de/fi.

The bug is still there. This isn't fixed.
Some locales are inexistent. I've seen in /usr/lib/firefox-addons
directory only translation for pt-pt. The directory for firefox-3.0
translations in pt-br is there, but is empty (no translation
packages/files at all).

This is not fixed for all languages.
Oddly enough, different languages have different language pack versions
in the repositories. Those languages where the issue has been reported
as fixed (German and Spanish) have the following version of language-

My firefox is localized now! I just removed the english language-packs with
gnome-language-selector and that was it. Firefox also stays localized, if i
reinstall these packages.
But there was a recent update of gnome-language-pack-de-base, too. So I do not
know the certain reason, sorry.
