the only solution I have is to force the application to quit but my
message is not sent. what type of bug or error is this?

The pidgin window doesn't respond after I send a message to an online
user of yahoo or msn. if I don't send and leave the application running,
it crashes after a few minutes. I don't understand the process to
running an update or check from terminal.

I did a complete update earlier today and since then no issues. I tried
exiting and restarting pidgin several times and sending messages to
gchat buddies and no crashes at all. Seems to be fixed as far as I can
tell.

It seems to be fixed now. Didn't happen since the latest update. Maybe the bug
was due to an other package than pidgin.

It crashes for any MSN, AIM/ICQ and Jabber contact when sending a message.
When receiving, it only crashes if the chat window is open in foreground.
I attached a backtrace.

I just updated Hardy and I'm seeing the exact same behavior that Stefan
is.
If I start pidgin I can send messages to yahoo and AIM with no problems.
If the first messages is to a googlechat(XMPP) buddy then I crash
immediately with the errors pasted below. However if I message a yahoo
or AIM budd
