Yes the fix in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/flashplugin-
nonfree/+bug/189870 fixes the installation issue which I think is a
package problem.
But after installation and confirming it works in firefox it still
doesn't work in konqueror. It crashes when it tries to load the plugin

Fixed using the purge outlined in:

(don't forget to add "sudo" before each command). But surely the purge (or a
similar fix) should be in the auto-update, otherwise it will screw a lot of
people over who don't know how to
Flash 12.1 does not work at all on firefox for me. Have not tried it on
any other browser. Downgrading back to the old version resolves it...
Sigh.
