Hi!, Same problem here,
(Vaio VGN-NR150FE), with the Intel x3100 graphic card / chipset).
However after trying the
"sudo locate -u && for i in $(locate lcd-???-brightness); do sudo cp $i $i.bak;
sudo sed -i '1 s|#!/bin/sh|#!/bin/bash|g' $i; done"
"spicctrl.."
commands I tried the backlight
I think I really send this bug report to early... got it to work now... (only
from console though)
using the xbacklight package I am able to set the backlight in the console

I have;
