I too have a Toshiba Satellite R20 and have difficulties with suspend. It
originally was turning everything off except the CPU fan and the power lights.
I was able to get that fixed with the help of Peter from this bug:

What kernel are you using? As mentioned in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingACPI , you should file this bug in the
kernel's package. This is usually " linux-source-2.X.XX ".
